CORPORATE MANDATE

 

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) was created under P.D. 1467 on 11 June 1978. Its charter was amended by P.D. 1733 on 21 October 1980 and R.A. 8175 on 29 December 1995.

Its principal mandate is to provide insurance protection to the country’s agricultural producers, particularly the subsistence farmers, against:

· Crop losses arising from  natural calamities such as typhoons, floods, drought, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions as well as plant diseases and pest infestation.

· Non-crop agricultural asset losses due to perils for which the asset has been insured against.
